The Women's Affairs Unit hosts the staff of the Family and Child Protection Department from Domestic Violence in Najaf Al-Ashraf and holds a dialogue session.
As part of its activities during the global 16-day campaign to eliminate violence against women, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the Technical Institute/Kufa hosted the staff of the Family and Child Protection Department from Domestic Violence in Najaf Al-Ashraf. An open dialogue session was held to learn about the department’s procedures in protecting abused women. The session was moderated by:
– Colonel Haider Najm Abd
– Investigator Ibtisam Abd Al-Zahra
-Assistant Lecturer Hussein Mustafa Rasool
The session included defining violence as any physical, psychological, or financial abuse directed against oneself or another person, which could potentially lead to injury, psychological harm, deprivation, or death. It also addressed types of violence, gender discrimination in our societies, and the challenges faced by working women.
Additionally, the discussion highlighted the role of women and their progress in assuming significant positions within state institutions, particularly in the Ministry of Interior. The session also introduced the role of the department, emphasizing its development to encompass the entire family and its efforts to promote reconciliation and prevent family disintegration.
Investigator Ibtisam Abd Al-Zahra stressed the importance of publicizing the free hotline 139 dedicated to reporting cases of domestic violence and electronic blackmail. She pointed out that calls are handled with complete confidentiality, without requiring the caller to provide personal information—only the location is needed to enable the department’s staff to take the necessary actions.
The dialogue session was attended by the Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, several department heads and staff members of the institute, as well as a group of students from various scientific departments.
The session concluded with the institute’s administration presenting a token of appreciation to the staff of the Family and Child Protection Department as a gesture of gratitude for their attendance and the valuable information shared during the session.
