As part of its awareness program for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the Technical Institute/Kufa organized a scientific seminar on breast cancer and the fear of myths. The seminar was presented by: Asst. Lecturer Zahra Mousa Hamza.
The seminar targeted female staff members and students from the Nursing Techniques Department. It provided an overview of the disease and the importance of early detection, which can increase the chances of recovery to 95% and prevent the tumor from spreading.
The seminar also discussed the term “illusion of immunity,” which arises among women who are not affected by the disease, stemming from the false belief that the absence of symptoms indicates good health and the absence of cancer.
Additionally, the seminar covered common misconceptions and false beliefs prevalent in our communities and the most widespread myths surrounding the disease.
At the end of the seminar, a discussion session was opened, and the participants had the opportunity to ask questions and receive answers.
