In a step that affirms the leadership and excellence of Iraqi academic competencies on the international stage, Asst. Lect. Hawraa Fadhel, rapporteur of the Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics Technology, and Asst. Lect. Noor Hassan Nasser, a member of the teaching staff in the Department of Medical Laboratory Technologies at the Technical Institute / Kufa, has achieved a remarkable scientific milestone by obtaining an international patent registered with the UK Intellectual Property Office.
The patent pertains to the design of an advanced device named
“Automated High-Throughput Screening Laboratory Device for Pharmacological Compounds”
This innovation is a state-of-the-art tool designed to screen vast libraries of compounds at ultra-fast speeds, representing a qualitative leap that shortens the time required for drug discovery and development.
The device is characterized by the integration of an automated liquid-handling system, an advanced optical detection system based on LED fluorescence technology, and integrated analysis software for signal processing and real-time readings of compound efficacy. This technical synergy enables efficient, high-throughput analysis of compound interactions with target molecules, thereby accelerating laboratory workflows and facilitating faster identification of potential therapeutic alternatives in both academic and pharmaceutical industrial settings.
This international achievement reflects the institute’s staff commitment to delivering applied innovations that serve the health sector, and it enriches the scientific movement with advanced technological models that elevate the name of our educational institution in the arenas of global academic excellence.
