“Toward a more efficient and sustainable job market”

The workshop was attended by Mr. Husain Awad Kurdi, Director of the Quality Assurance Department at the Presidency of the Technical University of the Middle Euphrates, along with a number of ladies and gentlemen—employers from various fields, including medical, technological, administrative, and agricultural. They were received by the Dean of the Institute, Prof. Dr. Atheer Kazem Obaidi, the Dean’s Assistant for Scientific Affairs and Students, A.D. Ayad Muslim Hamza, and the Dean’s Assistant for Administrative and Financial Affairs, A.D. Kazem Khiyoun. Also present were the heads of the scientific departments, along with faculty staff and students.

The workshop included several segments, beginning with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and the reading of the Iraqi national anthem, followed by an introductory video about the institute’s scientific departments.

Then, the dean announced the start of the workshop proceedings, emphasizing that the institute’s administration is keen to follow up on and develop educational curricula and training programs in a way that aligns with the requirements of the labor market. He stated that:

This workshop represents an active institutional step toward strengthening communication channels with employers, identifying market needs, and working to align the outputs of education with those needs—thereby achieving quality of performance and efficiency of outcomes.

He also confirmed that the aim of the workshop is to inform employers about the educational curricula, receive their opinions and valuable proposals for developing them, and to gather their views regarding the establishment of specializations that are needed and in demand in the market.

The workshop concluded with a tour for the employers across the scientific departments to view the laboratories and laboratory equipment, as well as holding meetings with the department staff to discuss the educational and training curricula provided to students and to receive employers’ feedback regarding their quality and how they can be improved. The workshop resulted in a set of important recommendations in order to achieve its objectives.
