The Nursing Techniques Department at the Technical Institute / Kufa Concludes a Training Course
The Nursing Techniques Department at the Technical Institute / Kufa concluded a three-day training course dedicated to newborn screening. The course included lectures by:
Assistant Professor Dr. Riyadh Saad Attshan,
Assistant Professor Zahra Musa Hamza,
The course covered newborn screening—one of the most important preventive tests used for early detection of diseases, especially in newborns—due to its significant role in reducing complications and improving quality of life.
This screening helps with the early identification of genetic and metabolic disorders, preventing intellectual delay and abnormal growth, lowering rates of disability and future health complications, and enhancing opportunities for early and effective treatment.
The lecturers emphasized that conducting newborn screening at the appropriate time ensures prompt medical intervention, which positively impacts both individual and community health.
The event concluded with an awareness message to all our respected families, stressing the importance of not neglecting newborn screening. A few drops of blood can make a profound difference in a person’s life.
Newborn screening… a small step that protects a great future.
