As part of the efforts of the presidency of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University to enhance the quality of education and achieve academic leadership, the dean of the Technical Institute/Kufa, Professor Dr. Atheer Kazem Abbadi, chaired an expanded and detailed meeting to discuss the latest developments in the institutional accreditation file. The meeting was attended by the heads and rapporteurs of the scientific departments, as well as the officials of the administrative divisions and units.
The meeting was held in the presence of the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Students, Assistant Professor Dr. Iyad Muslim Hamza, and the Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Assistant Professor Kazem Khayoun.
At the outset of the meeting, the dean emphasized that institutional accreditation represents the fundamental pillar for ensuring the quality of educational outcomes and is the true standard for achieving excellence at both the local and international levels. He explained that this file is not merely an administrative procedure, but rather an academic entitlement that reflects the institution’s competence and its ability to keep pace with global developments.
The meeting also included a detailed presentation delivered by the Head of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Evaluation Division, in which she reviewed the practical steps taken to meet the standards of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, along with an accurate assessment of what has been achieved across various quality domains. She also clarified the fundamental differences between institutional accreditation (which covers the institution as a whole) and program accreditation (which is specific to academic specializations).
The Dean stressed the importance of intensifying efforts and strengthening teamwork, directing the need for close coordination between the scientific departments and the Quality Assurance Division to ensure the completion of requirements within the specified timelines.
He affirmed that achieving the highest levels of institutional performance requires unified visions and the combined efforts of all administrative and academic staff.
He also directed the organization of comprehensive awareness workshops for students in all departments to introduce them to the importance of institutional accreditation and their role as key partners in the success of this national project.
This approach comes as part of the university presidency’s ambitious strategic plan, which aims to obtain full institutional accreditation, thereby contributing to improving the institute’s academic ranking and enhancing the confidence of society and the labor market in the scientific and technical outputs it provides.
