The Psychological Guidance and Educational Guidance Unit at the Technical Institute/Kufa organized a workshop on the role of health professionals in combating extremism and violence, in collaboration with the Nursing Techniques Department. The workshop was presented by Dr. Riyad Saad Atshan.
It included a definition of extremism as a broad term that refers to ideas and actions characterized by intolerance, often associated with violence and fanaticism. The workshop also highlighted the main characteristics of extremists, as well as addressing ideological extremism, which involves deviating from the intellectual and cultural norms accepted by society
Additionally, it discussed violent extremism, which is the most dangerous form of extremism, as it justifies the use of violence and criminality to achieve political or religious agendas, while outlining the best methods to combat extremism and terrorism
