Department of Autism Spectrum Technologies – Technical Institute/Kufa Establishment and OriginsThe Department of Autism Spectrum Technologies was established at the Technical Institute/Kufa during the 2024–2025 academic year. It stands as the first specialized academic department of its kind in Iraq, aimed at addressing the critical shortage of qualified professionals trained to work with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Foundational Knowledge: A deep understanding of ASD and its classifications.
Diagnostics: Utilizing standardized diagnostic tools, such as the DSM-5.
Intervention: Designing and implementing individualized behavioral treatment plans.
Communication: Developing specialized skills to engage with affected children and their families.
Clinical Practice: Hands-on training within the department’s specialized clinic.
The Specialized Therapeutic Clinic
The department features a state-of-the-art therapeutic clinic equipped with the latest technology, comprising:
Treatment Room: A specialized space tailored to the specific sensory and therapeutic needs of children.
Observation & Training Hall: Equipped with display screens and surveillance cameras to allow students to monitor child behavior and learn clinical techniques.
