The Quality Assurance and University Performance Evaluation Unit at the Technical Institute / Kufa concluded the activities of the employer workshop titled;
“Toward a more efficient and sustainable job market”
The workshop’s concluding phase included intensive field activity, represented by comprehensive exploratory tours for employers and experts from various sectors—medical, technological, administrative, and agricultural—across the institute’s scientific departments.
During their tour—which included laboratories, workshops, and classrooms—they were accompanied by the heads of the scientific departments. Employers were given close insight into the institute’s infrastructure, including laboratory equipment and the technologies used to train students. They also observed the practical curricula—how theoretical knowledge is converted into hands-on skills within the laboratory—and reviewed the training environment to assess how well the laboratories emulate real work settings in institutions and companies.
The tour was not limited to observation; it also included specialized on-site meetings between employers and teaching staff within the departments. These discussions focused on the following steps:
1-Curriculum evaluation: collecting employers’ feedback on the quality of current curricula and their adequacy in meeting labor market requirements.
2-Update and development: discussing ways to update training programs and introduce new techniques consistent with rapid developments in work sectors.
3-Qualitative enhancement: gathering experts’ input on scientific specializations currently lacking in the local market in order to study their future introduction.
For his part, the Dean of the Institute, Prof. Dr. Atheer Kazem Obaidi, emphasized that the main objective of this field outreach is to ensure that the graduate is work-ready immediately upon graduation. He noted that the employers’ observations recorded during the tour will form the cornerstone for shaping the workshop’s final recommendations and converting them into practical action plans that enhance university performance and fulfill the aspirations of the institutional community.
