The Dean of Al-Kufa Technical Institute, Prof. Dr. Athir Kazem Obaidi, held an expanded meeting with the Women’s Affairs Unit coordinator and members as part of routine follow-up to review activity progress and the unit’s specialized programs.
The meeting included a comprehensive review of mechanisms to implement the national plans for 2026 presented by the unit’s head, Eng. Dr. Lamia Fahim Katran. Discussions focused on key strategic areas, notably: monitoring the national strategy items to combat violence against women; activating the outcomes of the Third National Plan for Women, Security, and Peace (2025–2030); and completing requirements of the 2026 Iraqi National Women’s Strategy.
The Dean affirmed the Deanship’s commitment to provide full logistical and moral support for the unit’s activities, stressing that these initiatives should align with ministerial directives aimed at empowering women within educational institutions.
He also expressed high appreciation for the unit staff’s efforts, praising their role in organizing events that raise awareness, strengthen support for women, and develop their skills—positively impacting the academic work environment.
The meeting concluded with a set of recommendations from the Dean to improve the unit’s administrative and organizational procedures, adopt targeted initiatives that serve the institute’s goals, enhance women’s role in serving the community, and raise the institute’s academic and social standing.
He emphasized that women’s empowerment is not merely an administrative objective but a fundamental pillar for institutional development and achieving sustainable development.
