The Department of Autism Spectrum Technology at the Technical Institute \/ Kufa concluded a specialized training course titled <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAntibiotic Resistance: A Global Challenge and the Role of Medical Laboratories in Containing It\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This lasted for three days and was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Zainab Hussein Mateeghi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The course aimed to raise scientific awareness and enhance the competencies of laboratory personnel in dealing with this growing phenomenon, which is considered one of the most serious threats to global public health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It included an introduction to the concept of antibiotic resistance, its mechanisms of development, and patterns of spread. The course also discussed contributing factors to resistance, such as the irrational use of antibiotics in both human and veterinary sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, it addressed the latest laboratory methods for detecting bacterial antimicrobial susceptibility and highlighted the role of antimicrobial stewardship programs in promoting the optimal use of antibiotics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The course recommended the adoption of informed national policies to reduce antimicrobial resistance and emphasized the importance of medical laboratories as the first line of defense in confronting this global challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
