The Medical Laboratory Technology Department at the Technical Institute \/ Kufa concluded a specialized training course on how to handle laboratory animals in research experiments, which lasted for four days. The following were the presenters:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The course curriculum covered an introduction to laboratory animals and their importance in scientific research, highlighting the most commonly used species, such as rats and mice, and the reasons for their selection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It focused on the ethics of dealing with them according to the principle of animal welfare and the (3Rs) rule, as well as addressing the suitable environmental conditions for breeding and nutrition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The course included fundamentals of safe handling of animals, methods of capturing them, prevention of zoonotic diseases, as well as techniques for administering medications, taking samples, anesthesia, and euthanasia according to ethical standards, with an emphasis on laboratory safety procedures and practical applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The significance of this course was summarized in ensuring humane and safe handling of laboratory animals, which preserves their health, reduces their suffering, and assures the safety of the researcher, while also contributing to accurate and reliable scientific results in accordance with established ethical standards<\/p>\n\n\n\n
