As part of the implementation of the recommendations from the 2024 Regional Event celebrating the International Girls in ICT Day, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the Technical Institute of Kufa organized a special workshop titled “Empowering Women in the Technology Sector: Opportunities and Challenges.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop was delivered by Programmer Shahed Awad Kurdi<\/strong> in the Information Technology Division hall. It addressed the importance of empowering women in modern technology, highlighting the opportunities available for women in the technology sector and the challenges hindering their progress in this field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussion also touched on significant gender gaps in leadership positions due to the prevailing male-dominated work culture and the lack of encouragement for women at early stages of their careers. Women occupy no more than 10% of leadership roles in major technology companies. Additionally, the workshop highlighted the wage disparity between men and women in the technology sector and emphasized the critical role of education and training in empowering women technologically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The session concluded by presenting several examples of women leaders in the ICT sector and their success stories in this field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
